High seas MPAs will be explored further at the IUCN World Conservation Congress, in Bangkok, Thailand, 17-25 November 2004, the CBD Protected Areas Working Group in Italy in April 2005, and the International Marine Protected Areas Congress, in Geelong (near Melbourne), Australia, in October 2005. They may also feature in the high seas discussions at the next UN ICP meeting in New York in June 2005.
